Needs Assessment
Objectively identifying the need for all types of housing, student and later living accommodation, retail and leisure floorspace, hotels, education, community facilities, open spaces and sports facilities.
Data-led planning insight, research, demographics, economics and GIS mapping for public and private sector clients.
Helping clients make informed decisions to secure positive planning outcomes.
We understand the challenges that come with selling the positives of your planning application or making your evidence base insightful and meaningful. That’s why we established Nexus Analytics & Research (NAR): a team of demographic, economic and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) specialists with extensive experience delivering evidence-based studies for the public and private sectors across the UK and Ireland.
NAR has built a strong reputation for its work in the housing, education, health, retail, leisure and specialised accommodation sectors, often involving supply-demand analysis, understanding population dynamics, challenging stated norms and using cutting-edge GIS mapping to visualise data, optimise land use and enhance planning accuracy.
Our service offer is tailored to individual client requirements and supports planning strategy, applications, investment decisions and development management.

Producing demographic and socio-economic analysis to support planning applications, from Environmental Statement chapters and Health Impact Assessments to bespoke studies. We draw on a range of data sources to build a clear and comprehensive understanding of local areas.
Using GIS and census data tools to analyse planning policy, market trends and social change. We provide location-based analysis to inform land strategies, site assessments and strategic searches, presenting complex information through clear and accessible mapping and graphics.
Collaborating with colleagues across all sectors, as well as public and private sector clients, to develop original research that informs thinking on key planning issues, including retail, health and sustainability.
NAR supports private sector clients, cultural institutions, housebuilders, land promoters and public authorities across residential, retail, leisure, health, education, culture, logistics and specialised accommodation.
In the public sector, we have also worked with over 100 local authorities across the UK and Ireland. We have a strong record of repeat business, reflecting the quality of our service and our ability to deliver results.
