Matthew Morris is a Director with more than 25 years’ experience specialising in retail, commercial leisure and town centre planning across England and Wales.

He advises public and private sector clients on complex retail and mixed-use development proposals, town centre strategies and planning policy matters, supporting both development plan preparation and development management decisions. Matthew has particular expertise in retail impact and sequential assessments, town centre masterplanning and planning strategies for new centres within urban extensions and new settlements.

Matthew joined Nexus in 2024 to help grow the firm’s retail and town centre advisory services in the South West and South Wales. Prior to this, he spent 24 years at a multi-disciplinary real estate consultancy advising local authorities, developers and national organisations on major regeneration and development projects.

An experienced expert witness, Matthew has appeared at public inquiries, hearings and Local Plan examinations. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and mentors at the University of Cambridge Department of Land Economy. Matthew is a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
