Hywel James is a Director specialising in strategic land promotion and residential development projects across the South of England. He joined Nexus in 2017 as a Senior Planner and has since played a key role in the growth of the Bristol office and the wider strategic land team.

His experience includes promoting land through Local Plan processes, managing planning applications and appeals, and advising clients on a range of strategic residential developments, from smaller-scale schemes to complex urban extensions with significant infrastructure requirements.

Hywel regularly appears at Local Plan Examination Hearings and Planning Appeal Hearings. His clients include Hallam Land, Lands Improvement Holdings, Gleeson Land and Taylor Wimpey.

Alongside his strategic land work, he has secured planning permissions for a number of unique projects, including a winery and events venue in Wiltshire and a high ropes course within the Olympic Park.

Hywel has been a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute since 2018. He is also a Nexus Mental Health First Aider and a member of the Nexus Employee Forum.
