WALTHAMSTOW STATION, LONDON

Appointed by Solum, we were tasked with securing planning permission for the redevelopment of a brownfield site adjacent to Walthamstow Central Station. A joint venture between Network Rail and Kier Property, the redevelopment consisted of two phases and was a key element of the ongoing regeneration of Walthamstow Town Centre.

Our Solutions

We worked closely with the client team, architect and planning officers to ensure a scheme which was not overbearing within the context of the local surroundings whilst still being viable in terms of overall quantum. Close working with Network Rail was also important considering the Site’s proximity to Walthamstow Station, including both rail and underground lines.

As a result of our work, we successfully secured planning permission for Phase 1 of the redevelopment. This lead to the completion of a 14-storey landmark hotel, 85 residential units, a number of convenience retail units and community facilities.

The Outcome

We were subsequently appointed as planning consultants for Phase 2 of the process. This stage comprised of a 12-storey building, providing 79 residential flats and ground floor retail units. Phase 2 was granted planning permission and construction is complete.
