Nexus has recently obtained planning permission for a new school building with associated play space and landscaping at Sutton Bonington Primary School.

The proposal included the provision of temporary accommodation to facilitate the operation of the school during the construction phases of the development.

Our Solutions

The design of the scheme carefully evolved at pre-application stage to ensure that the new building did not have a detrimental impact on the existing locally listed school building.

We worked closely with the Council’s Highways team during the determination period to overcome concern raised in relation to on road parking during the construction period. Parking surveys were carried out on the surrounding roads which successfully demonstrated that there was sufficient capacity.

The Outcome

The application was approved via delegated powers in December 2023. Going forward Nexus will be working with the project team to discharge relevant conditions.
