The aim of the project was to create a distinctive ‘urban village’ in the heart of the City Centre, making use of brownfield and underused sites, mixing housing, business, education and leisure uses. A key objective is an improvement in connectivity, highlighting walking and cycling routes within the area as well as delivering stronger links to the rest of the city centre.

The framework sets out an exciting, long-term vision for the area that aims to both attract investment into Stoneygate and realise its potential.

The masterplan has now been adopted and outlines the need for Preston City Council to work in partnership with Lancashire County Council to create a better environment for residents, business owners, students and visitors alike through quality public realm improvements.
