A Masterplan for the estate was developed with residents and stakeholders, through an extensive community consultation programme, by listening to their views, we were able to identify what’s important to them and used their feedback to influence the plans for the estate. The first phase of development for the Sale West Estate will provide 79 quality family homes, improvements to existing car parks, improved highways, new safe quality play areas and enhanced amenity spaces. All homes will be affordable and available for social rent. Additionally, the scheme will open up new access routes across the estate, provide more high-quality children’s play areas and seating, improve hard and soft landscaping, and enhance pedestrian routes.

The first phase of the estate regeneration programme was approved at Trafford’s Planning Committee with a unanimous vote in favour. The permission has also confirmed the principle of development for later phases of the scheme, which could come forward as age friendly apartments or residential care, dependent on funding. A total of 263 new homes could ultimately be delivered on the estate.
