MILE END ROAD, LONDON

We were tasked by Middlehaven Investments Ltd to secure planning permission for a 88-bedroom Travelodge Hotel with an active retail frontage. Situated immediately adjacent to a pair of Grade II listed Georgian terraces, the Site sits within the Stepney Green Conservation Area and outside the established town centre boundary. The project was subject to various land use challenges and heritage sensitivities.

Our Solutions

Working closely with Middlehaven Investments, Travelodge, local stakeholders and the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, we led a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the development of an optimal planning application. This included preparing a comprehensive land use assessment and engaging with heritage experts and transport consultants to ensure any related issues were dealt with prior to submitting the application.

The Outcome

We undertook successful discussions and negotiations with the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and other local stakeholders to shape the planning application. Planning permission was granted and construction has reached practical completion.
