Brooklands Farm, Whitstable

We are appointed by Hallam Land Management to promote a large greenfield site on the edge of Whitstable through the emerging Canterbury City Council Local Plan.

Our Solutions

We promoted the site for major residential-led mixed use development through the emerging Canterbury City Council Local Plan, demonstrating the sustainability credentials of the site on the edge of one of the Council’s principal settlements.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, we helped develop a Vision Document for the site, clearly demonstrating its merits and the substantial benefits it could deliver. As part of our representations, we also set out a compelling case for the sustainable growth of the coastal towns, such as Whitstable.
We are currently acting as lead consultant in the preparation of an outline planning application, including also acting as EIA co-ordinator.

The Outcome

We have successfully secured a draft allocation in the emerging Local Plan for 1,400 new homes including significant community infrastructure such as a primary school, SEND school, local centre and new slip roads onto a dual carriageway.
We will continue to engage in the local plan process, including appearing at the local plan examination in due course, to support the site’s draft allocation.
We plan to lodge the outline planning application in advance of the local plan examination to help demonstrate the deliverability of the site and secure planning permission at the earliest opportunity.
