Planning permission secured for 283 dwellings on the edge of Garden City, Flintshire

Nexus Planning has secured planning permission, on behalf of Countryside Properties, for a 283 home scheme on a brownfield site on the edge of Garden City, Flintshire. The site forms part of a wider strategic mixed use allocation known as ‘Northern Gateway’ in the adopted Unitary Development Plan. This reserved matters application by Countryside Properties represents the first phase of residential development at the Northern Gateway site.
The site was previously occupied by the RAF Sealand and has lain largely vacant and underused for a number of years now. The approval of the application will ensure the provision of new, high quality open market, market rent and affordable homes within Flintshire alongside the remediation of a derelict site. The scheme will deliver two, three and four bedroom houses which will contribute to Flintshire’s family housing offering and significantly improve the character and quality of the area. The approval will further benefit the wider community through the creation of on-site public open space and through the provision of 10% affordable housing.
Nexus Planning has worked with officers to minimise pre-commencement conditions to deliver the scheme as soon as possible.
