Planning permission for 68 home scheme in Blackburn
24th April 2019
Nexus Planning has secured full planning permission, on behalf of Countryside Properties, for a 68 home scheme on a brownfield site which has lay derelict for over two decades, in a highly sustainable location in the urban area of Blackburn.
The site was previously occupied by industrial uses yet has lain largely vacant and underused for a number of years now. The approval of the application will ensure the provision of new, high quality homes within Blackburn alongside the remediation of a derelict site. The scheme will deliver two, three and four bedroom houses which will contribute to Blackburn’s family housing offering and significantly improve the character and quality of the area. The approval will further benefit the wider community by allowing for the creation of a new pedestrian crossing across a busy road adjacent to the site.
The application required negotiation with Blackburn with Darwen Councils’ Planning Officers in order to overcome a range of concerns including noise and vibration from adjacent noise sources. Nexus Planning liaised with the officers to ensure no pre-commencement conditions were attached to the decision notice, anticipating a speedy start on site.
