Harpenden Neighbourhood Plan Passes Referendum
8th February 2019
Nexus Planning are delighted that the residents of Harpenden have emphatically supported the adoption of the Harpenden Neighbourhood Plan at Referendum with over 89% in favour. We were commissioned by the Town Council to support the preparation of the Neighbourhood Plan and assisted them to initiate and submit the comprehensive Development Plan Document within a year of inception. The Neighbourhood Plan is particularly special as it applies to an area with a population of over 30,000 people and exists in St Albans District, which last adopted a Local Plan in 1994.
Alasdair Buckle, Principal Planner at Nexus Planning said: “We are delighted to see that local people in Harpenden voted to support the Neighbourhood Plan, an excellent planning policy document that seeks to deliver the sustainable growth in Harpenden. This Neighbourhood Plan shows how local communities can empower themselves to prepare comprehensive and professional Development Plan documents that guide the sort of development local people want to see. We congratulate the Town Council and community volunteers on this success and look forward to seeing the Plans forward thinking policies come to fruition.”
