Wednesday 14 March in review - MIPIM 2018

15th March 2018

A welcome start to the second day was provided by WSP who hosted a well attended breakfast event; a good opportunity to reflect on events so far.

Then back to the Palais for the start of the official programme on the UK Government Stand to see an interesting debate about the future of the housing industry, chaired by Nick Walkley CEO of Homes England.

The Manchester Stand then provided a platform for sports stars turned property developers, with Gary Neville taking us through his ambitious UA92 new university project and Freddie Flintoff explaining the importance of housing regeneration in the North West and the need to achieve high quality without any compromise through his company Logik Developments.

We attended the Team Lincolnshire Brunch at the Grand Hotel where their exciting new development and investment opportunities were presented followed by the Build to Rent Seminar at the London Stand.

As a member of the Manchester South branch of the networking group Interact, Justin attended the inaugural luncheon of the Cote D’Azur branch (pictured), which was a great opportunity to meet members from across the UK and hear about the challenges and successes experienced by different regions.

Curtins then kindly provided the opportunity to taste wines from the region and as a company that provides highway consultancy services it came as no surprise that they had applied for a road closure to allow the event to take place on a grander scale.

As a born and bred resident of the town, Justin was particularly pleased to see Bolton take centre stage on the Manchester Stand as George Clark chaired a panel that talked about the ambitious approach that has been taken by Bolton Council to help unlock sites and re-shape the offer of the town centre through residential led regeneration projects. We also had an exclusive, with the Church Wharf scheme being unveiled that is to be delivered by Muse Developments.

Business development discussions with JTP, L&G and Berkeley took place during the sunny afternoon followed by drinks in the Harbour on yacht L’Alexandre and a most welcoming Reception at the Majestic Hotel courtesy of Dentons.

On to the evening and Justin was a guest at the Lancashire LEP dinner which was a great opportunity to hear more about the great things happening in the region.
