Northamptonshire County Council Offices up and Running
14th December 2017
Northamptonshire County Council HQ was one of the first major planning applications submitted by Nexus Planning in August 2013. Working with BDP Architects, Nexus Planning negotiated a complicated planning application that had to resolve a number of urban design and cultural heritage constraints on a relatively compact former car park site in Northampton Town Centre.
The building was completed and formally opened in October 2017 by Communities Secretary Sajid Javid. It is now fully occupied by the full range of County Council services.
Its massing, urban form and architectural quality together with a careful material palate provide a comfortable and enhancing juxtaposition with the more historic Conservation Area setting. One Angel Square has regenerated a formerly derelict site and will bring more than 2,000 staff closer to the town centre boosting the local economy.
