Our Manchester office is delighted to have secured outline planning permission at a former Steelworks site in Wolsingham, County Durham on behalf of BXB Land Solutions Ltd,. The proposals will result in the transformation of the site through the provision of 151 homes, as well as the conversion of the stone built former steelworks administration building for a mix of uses, including community and retail.

Securing planning permission follows many months of detailed work with the wider project team, particularly around matters relating to biodiversity, viability and neighbour amenity. The former Wolsingham Steelworks closed in 2008, and has laid vacant since this time due to the complex and challenging nature of the site.

The redevelopment of this site for residential-led uses will deliver substantial benefits, including providing a number of high quality new homes in Wolsingham, affordable housing, areas of public open space and highways improvements to Durham Road. This is the latest permission that Nexus have secured for BXB across the north of England so far facilitating the delivery of over 2000 new homes on brownfield land.
