We worked with CBRE to produce the Macclesfield Economic Masterplan on behalf of Cheshire East Council. The purpose of the project was to review the development interests in the town, help inform future planning policy and produce action plans to guide future development.
The Masterplan provided a platform for development in the town and formulated a strategy for encouraging economic growth. With an emphasis on the town centre and the South Macclesfield Development Area, the project identified strategies where development progress had stalled.
The Masterplan reviewed policy options and set out recommendations for the recognised investment areas, clarifying development principles to create a clear private sector investment platform. By considering the cultural, creative, knowledge-based and SME industries, the plan aims to stimulate and support a diversified economy.
In order to successfully execute this project, we worked closely alongside the Council, community and key stakeholders, including the Council’s preferred development partner, to ensure a robust and deliverable framework which delivers a sustainable and viable development mix.
The final adopted Masterplan for the town formulates a framework for public and private investment, accompanied by a clear implementation plan and detailed policy recommendations.
