Acting as lead planning consultants, we were appointed by CEG to secure outline planning permission from Shropshire Council for a scheme on greenfield land at Bowbrook in Shrewsbury. The proposed development consisted of up to 425 new homes, a 13-hectare countryside park, a new link road and a ‘future-proof’ area for recreational, educational or community uses.
We promoted the Site through the Council’s emerging Site Allocations Document, as well as conducting an extensive process of engagement with local stakeholders. This included a public consultation exhibition, meetings with residents’ groups and regular liaison with Officers and Councillors at Shropshire Council and Shrewsbury Town Council.
Following this work, the resolution to grant permission was achieved within nine weeks of submitting the application. The project was also shortlisted in the Placemaking Awards for ‘Best Housing Scheme.’
