We were commissioned by Dover District Council to assess two major planning applications for high frequency trading masts, both exceeding 300m in height. Located in Richborough, the project was further complicated by its proximity to Richborough Fort, Pegwell Bay Nature Reserve, Ash Level and Sites of Special Scientific Interest and nature conservation.
Working closely with various departments of Dover District Council, we individually assessed both applications and their supporting information. This included the completion of an Environmental Impact Assessment and Townscape and Landscape Assessment. We also negotiated various aspects of the proposals with the applicants and their agents, gathering comments from statutory consultees, local stakeholders and members of the public.
Following our assessment and formulation of an Officer level recommendation, both applications were successfully presented at the planning committee, where members unanimously voted in favour of our recommendations. Should the proposals come before a Planning Inspector, the Council will seek to retain our services as Expert Witnesses.
