We were appointed by Cheshire West and Chester Council to undertake a review of the area strategies within Cheshire West. As part of a refreshed investment and engagement proposition at local, regional and national levels, the project sought to reflect and further develop a revised Growth Strategy for the Borough. This entailed working with closely with Council Officers, Area Development Boards and the Local Enterprise Partnership to engender public private partnerships.
We reviewed existing data, consulted with key stakeholders and undertook economic analysis and spatial assessments for the key areas at the heart of the strategy. A central part of our solution was to emphasise Chester as a core transport hub and leading visitor destination. Chester was also confirmed as a key centre for financial and professional services, as reflected in the supporting approach to training and skills, increasing residency levels and retaining graduates.
Strategy updates and Action Plans were produced for the four areas covering West Cheshire which have been taken forward by the respective development boards. The work has contributed towards focusing the Borough’s overarching Growth Strategy and identifying a clear way forward.
