We were appointed by Taylor Wimpey to promote a major residential-led development at Blindley Heath, within the rural southern half of Tandridge in Surrey. Tandridge District Council had identified a lack of services as an issue for the area, which we established as partly being in relation to the restrictions on growth and development. Accordingly, the Blindley Heath Site was being considered as a potential option for release from the Green Belt allocation.
We guided the project through the Local Plan process, promoting the concept of a sustainable rural community throughout. Our submission included 1,000 to 2,000 dwellings, leisure facilities, employment land, health provisions, secondary and primary schools, and a new village centre forming a rural service centre. We also sought to demonstrate that the development would alleviate the spatial problems affecting this part of the District.
The Council has carried out a refined consultation on the Local Plan options which provides for consideration of our Site as part of an overall housing strategy. We are retained to promote the Site throughout the plan making process.
