We were appointed by Beaufort House Developments to convert a disused 7-storey office building located in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, into a high quality, one and two-bedroom flatted development. The Site falls within the Jewellery Quarter Conservation Area and within Birmingham’s City Fringe.
Working with Benchmark Architects and Birmingham City Council through a comprehensive pre-application process, an application was prepared for a prior approval for the change of use from office to residential, as well as an application for installation of replacement windows and refurbishment of the main entrance with new glazing and canopy. A further application for a 2 storey contemporary rooftop extension was subsequently submitted.
We successfully secured planning permission for a total of 88 residential apartments after demonstrating that the development presented an excellent opportunity to provide much needed high quality housing in the City Centre.
