We were appointed by Winstanley College to provide a planning strategy and to co-ordinate the submission of an application for the construction of a new Learning and Resource Centre (LRC) and library with associated access, parking and landscaping.
Working closely with a multi-disciplinary team, we developed a high quality design solution that would meet with the client’s aspirational objectives whilst securing a successful planning outcome through negotiation with the Local Planning Authority.
The new proposals updated and consolidated facilities on the College’s existing campus, replacing a range of outdated buildings. These include an extension to the existing science block creating a ‘science street’, as well as providing breakout and study spaces and exhibition space for the department. The new LRC replaced the old Library and acts as a central focus for the campus. It also houses the traditional book collection, along with new computer suites and more informal drop-in study space for students. The development has now been completed on Site.
