We were appointed by Muse Developments to co-ordinate the delivery of plans for a £250m mixed use scheme in Chatham, Reading. The project forms a key element of Reading’s ‘2020 Vision’ for the town centre. The scheme consists of residential space, leisure and community facilities, retail and a multi-storey car park.
To mitigate concerns from the public and other key stakeholders, we conducted extensive consultation activities throughout the pre-application process. In addition, we acted as project managers and coordinators of this major complex application, working closely with the client and wider design team to ensure a timely and comprehensive submission.
We secured detailed approval for Phase 1 of the scheme and outline permission for future phases. Over one million sqft of mixed-use floorspace was achieved within the sixteen week determination period.
We were subsequently retained by Muse Developments as planning consultants on Phase 2, which is also now complete. This comprised of two residential tower blocks (the tallest residential buildings in Reading), a ground floor retail offering and a new public square.
